Black Alumni Association Awards

Saint Louis University’s Black Alumni Association (BAA) recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the Black community through their religious, cultural, civic, professional and educational endeavors and achievements. The Distinguished Black Alumni Award, Emerging Leader Award and BAA Board Leadership Award are given out annually at the Ernest A. Calloway Black Alumni Association Prayer Breakfast.

Distinguished Black Alumni Award

SLU's Distinguished Black Alumni Award recognizes and celebrates exceptional alumni who have consistently excelled in their personal and professional accomplishments, shown leadership in their community or made a substantial impact on society. The award is not given posthumously.

SLU's Emerging Leader Award recognizes individuals from the Black community who have made significant contributions to BAA and/or their profession, while also demonstrating potential for leadership and ongoing service.

Nominees need not be a SLU graduate, however, the award is not given posthumously.

Newly awarded in 2025, SLU's BAA Board Leadership Award is designed to recognize an exemplary board member who transcends the fundamental expectations of governance, regulation and compliance. This award acknowledges an individual who serves as a role model for fellow BAA members and the SLU community and emphasizes the vital role effective board leadership plays in advancing the BAA's success.
